About Karoline Schuch

Karoline Schuch (born 19 October 1981) is a German actress. She had her career breakthrough in 2000 as Lara Cornelius in the soap opera Forbidden Love. Since then, she has appeared in over 60 film and television productions.

Life
Karoline Schuch grew up in Jena together with her brother Albrecht Schuch, who was four years younger and later also took up the acting profession. She took professional acting and voice training at an early age, including with Michael Keller (Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts) and Frank Betzelt in Berlin. She also completed a diploma in psychology at the Free University of Berlin, which she successfully completed in 2010. [1]

Schuch is a member of the German Film Academy. [2] She is in a relationship and became the mother of a daughter in 2014. [3] In 2017, she had a second daughter. [4] After years in Berlin, she now lives in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. [5]

Career
Schuch was already on stage at the age of six in the association "Kinderstudio Jena e. V.". At the turn of the millennium, she received a contract for a leading role in the soap opera Forbidden Love, in which she embodied the role of 'Lara Cornelius' until 2002.

From 2001 to 2010, she played Melanie Schenk, the daughter of Chief Inspector Freddy Schenk, played by Dietmar Bär, in a few episodes of the Cologne Tatort. At the same time and afterwards, she also had numerous guest roles in other Tatort episodes of other investigative teams. In 2008 she received the Günter Strack Television Award for "Best Young Actress" for her role in Tatort: Before it gets dark by the Frankfurt investigator duo Dellwo and singer. [6] From 2026, she will succeed Klaus Borowski in the Kiel Tatort as criminal psychologist Elli Krieger.[7]

In 2003, Schuch played the best friend of the main protagonist Nicole Maibach, played by Jasmin Schwiers, in the love film Mein erster Freund, Mutter und ich from the series made by ProSieben, which was nominated for the Grimme Award. [8] In 2004, she was part of the main cast of the twelve-part ZDF television series Typisch Mann!, alongside Nina Kronjäger and Leonard Carow as 'Lily Wolf'. In 2006, she starred in Otto Waalkes' comedy 7 Zwerge – Der Wald ist nicht genug, in a supporting role 'Gretel'. In 2008, she took on the leading role of 'Princess Paula' in the fairy tale film Das tapfere Schneiderlein alongside Kostja Ullmann and Axel Milberg.

In 2009, Schuch appeared in a supporting role as 'Lena' in Til Schweiger's romantic comedy Zweiohrküken. In 2012, Schweiger cast one of the leading roles with her as prosecutor 'Sara Lilly Müller' in his action thriller Guardian Angel. In 2010, she played Bushido's girlfriend in the film adaptation of the biography of the rapper Bushido under the title Zeiten ändern Dich (Times Change You). In 2015, she played the British journalist 'Lena' alongside Devid Striesow in the Hape Kerkeling film adaptation Ich bin dann mal weg. In 2017, she took on the title role in the ARD historical film Katharina Luther, also with Striesow (as husband Martin Luther).

In 2018, she starred as 'Doris Strelzyk' alongside Friedrich Mücke in Michael Herbig's cinema thriller Ballon, which deals with the escape of two families from the GDR known as the "balloon escape". In 2022, she starred in the international ARD mystery series Oderbruch as 'Kommissarin Maggie Kring' alongside Felix Kramer and Lucas Gregorowicz in the leading role in the series. [9][10]

Schuch took on the lead role for the television series The Second Wave on ZDF, released in 2023.
